STORYLINE:
A steady stream of sledders flocked to a small hill near downtown Oklahoma City on Sunday, enduring gusty winds and frigid temperatures following a powerful storm that dropped several inches of snow on the city.
Gil White drove from his home in Blanchard, Oklahoma, about 30 miles south of the city to go sledding with his 12-year-old son Thapelo White.
“Yesterday, we had absolutely no sunshine at all, so I stayed in the truck. It was way too cold for me. Today is much better. I’m able to bear it. It’s windy, but with the sun being out, it makes it worthwhile,” the elder White said.
The father-son duo took turns sliding down the hill on a 40-year-old inflatable water toy at Scissortail Park.
A massive winter storm moved into the area Thursday, dumping several inches of snow and bringing dangerously cold temperatures before moving out Sunday.
