In today’s world, selfishness is widespread. Many take advantage of every opportunity to benefit themselves, even misusing government support and grants. Some exploit these programs for personal gain, disregarding their intended purpose.
We also see cases where refugees, welcomed on humanitarian grounds, criticize the very countries that offered them safety and support. Despite receiving financial aid, freedom, and security, they forget why they left their homeland. They fail to appreciate the taxpayers funding their welfare, instead resenting those who helped them.
This selfishness extends beyond governments. In families, a relative who once received help may become a source of trouble. In workplaces, an employee assisted by a colleague may later turn against them. People often forget those who lent them a hand, prioritizing only their own interests.
Such attitudes contradict biblical wisdom: “Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too” (Philippians 2:4). Gratitude and selflessness should guide our actions, ensuring we appreciate and support those who help us.

Just live Christ’s love—by lifting each other up, one burden at a time.” ...
