Divine Mercy Parish, Mawryngkneng – Description
Divine Mercy Parish, Mawryngkneng is a Catholic parish under the Archdiocese of Shillong.
It was erected on 19 March 2003, when it was separated (bifurcated) from Nongthymmai Parish.
The parish is entrusted to the MSFS (Missionaries of St. Francis de Sales).
It includes seven villages: Mawryngkneng, Sohryngkham, Mawlyndep, Pomura, Puriang, Ksehpongdeng, and Kut.

Geographical & Demographic Facts
Mawryngkneng is a village (and block/subdivision) in the East Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya.
As per the 2011 Census, its population is about 6,598 people spread over 1,164 households.
The literacy rate in Mawryngkneng is relatively high, above the state average, about 79.8%.

Activities & Services
The parish includes catechism classes in all the villages under it, with common textbooks/syllabus for Sunday catechism.
It has a Pastoral Council that meets monthly to discuss parish affairs and plan activities.
The Salvatorian Sisters are present in Mawryngkneng (since September 2006) and are involved in both teaching ministry (at St. Francis de Sales’ school, run by MSFS) and pastoral work—preparing parishioners for sacraments, counseling etc.
