FIFA'S NEW ASEAN CUP | EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT SEA'S NEWEST TOURNAMENT!

Описание: Last year, FIFA announced that they would be establishing a new ASEAN Championship. The problem? They didn't tell us ANYTHING about what it would be like! Not only that but we already have the AFF ASEAN Championship which is coming up this summer! So what are the differences? Well recently FIFA released some new details including where it will be hosted, what the tournament format will be, what the prize money will be, and which nations and teams will be taking part.

In short:
The tournament will be hosted in Hong Kong and Indonesia.
ALL ASEAN/AFF countries (except Australia) will be taking part. No more qualifying rounds!
So this includes: Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Laos, Myanmar, Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei, Indonesia, East Timor/Timor Leste, and Singapore.
HOWEVER, FIFA have also announced that Hong Kong will be taking part whilst India and China have also been invited. India have already accepted the invitation whilst China have yet to reply as of this video.

So will this be a good idea?

Well, yes, but also no.

It has the risk of reducing competition in the region. China already has the EAFF Championship!

But it also gives some smaller ASEAN teams a bigger chance at winning because of the two division system, similar to the UEFA Nations League.
