It is 1998. The BETA have invaded Japan, and every effort made to repel their incursion has been met with failure. The Imperial Japanese Forces, alongside their US and UN allies, are desperate to keep the Far East front from collapsing. But every battle of the campaign is an uphill effort, growing worse by the day.

In the world of Muv-Luv Alternative, humanity is at war with an alien race designated as the BETA. Due to the nature of their foe, mankind has developed Tactical Surface Fighters (TSFs) to better adapt to the battlefields of this new war. However, none of this has ever stopped humanity from engaging in their squabbles against one another.
