(First Kernow's Last Day) Preserved Western National Mercedes-Benz 811D Plaxton Beaver: L357 VCV

Описание: On February 14th, 2026, First Kernow (Which has also been known in the past as First Devon And Cornwall, As well as Western National), Ceased operations in the county - Ending a history spanning nearly 100 years of operation. Having been to the area multiple times since 2022 or so, I've travelled with Kernow many times, enjoying the wonderful network they had to offer - So when I heard they were closing, Myself and two friends (Zack and Joe) made the 12+ hour journey over for the last day.

Our fourth ride of the day, was the first of two Preserved vehicles that had been pulled out to say farewell to Kernow, by both Cornwall Bus Preservation Society and Thames Valley & Great Western Omnibus Trust - With this Mercedes Benz 811D Plaxton Beaver coming from the former. It's already previously featured on the channel (    • Preserved Western National Mercedes-Benz 8...   ), But this was before I realised that these Beavers were front engined - So I recorded it from the very back, furthest away from the engine I could possibly be.. Whoops!

My previous mistakes aside, This motor was new to Western National in February 1994 as their 357, Just as FirstGroup as we know it today was formed. It became 6357 in around 2000, Before being withdrawn from First's fleet in around 2003/2004. It then passed to Filers Travel of Ilfracombe, Where it gained the private registration HHZ 5929, and continued to operate for many years. It was withdrawn from service with them in 2011, briefly passing to Beacon Buses of Barnstaple until 2012. it was then rescued for preservation, briefly debuting in 2015, before being stored again for several years, and then restored over 2020 and 2021 by it's current owner, Luke. It's been attending events all over the South West ever since.
