Severe flooding in Pakistan’s Punjab province has submerged over 1,600 villages, leaving at least 17 dead and displacing over a million people. Residents of villages such as Qadirabad were walking through water up to their chests on August 28 after the River Chenab overflowed, causing sudden flooding. Torrential rains and the release of excess water from Indian dams have worsened the crisis, causing massive damage to homes and vital crops. Both Pakistan and India are grappling with devastating monsoon floods.
