But in Cangzhou, Hebei, martial arts are not a performance —
they are part of everyday life.
On January 10, the first “Cangzhou Lei” open martial arts competition was held on Nanchuan Old Street. And it took place right in the heart of the city.
Anyone could sign up, compete, and connect through martial arts.
Cangzhou is one of China’s most important martial arts hubs.
More than 50 styles of martial arts originated or are practiced here,
accounting for over 40% of China’s martial arts systems.
In 2006, Cangzhou martial arts were recognized as national intangible cultural heritage.
Here, martial arts are still breathing, still growing.
And through them, more people are discovering Cangzhou.
