Cooking And Heating My Van With The Firemaple Sunflower 2 in 1 Gas Stove/Heater

Описание: This video is a full review of a Firemaple Sunflower 2 in 1 gas stove and heater. This is not a sponsored video, and I paid full price for this stove. I bought it because I thought it would be an interesting addition to my van for winter heating. I bought it last year but I never camped in cold enough weather to use it, and honestly it hasn't been cold enough yet to test it properly, but today is the day. The forecast was calling for -3 degrees Celsius overnight, so I decided to do a cold weather test on it. Some might argue that this wasn't a real cold weather test, and I kind of agree, but it's colder than most people choose to camp in. Anyways, this video starts with a run through of the Stove itself, I talk about it, show the specs, then show how it works, and even try it on a regular 1 pound propane bottle. This is where I need to say that Firemaple says on their website that it should not be run on regular propane, and it also says that it is for outdoor use only, which is exactly what I'm not going to do. I bought this to heat my van, so that's exactly what I'm going to do, so I take this out to the van for some testing. The outside temperature was -2 degrees Celsius, and 0 degrees inside the van at the time of testing, and my bottle of gas was in the van overnight to replicate a real life situation. At this point I light the stove and do a boil water test. It took me about 11 minutes to boil 1 liter of water, which is not really fast, but cooking is more than boiling water, so I made a breakfast sandwich. I fried up a sausage patty and an egg to perfection. This stove produces even heat, has good temperature modulation, and the nonstick firemaple frypan also worked well. I then tried to toast my bread on the grill and that's where I ran into some problems. Fist I burned my bread, then a crumb caught on fire, which when I blew it out, I blew out the whole stove. I didn't fully notice it at first, and I thought it was still on, so I gassed out my bread. I also had some issues trying to re light the stove here, and I couldn't tell if it was on or off, and at some point it felt half on, which I don't think is possible. Eventually I got the stove relit and continued toasting my bread, which again went poorly. I burned my bread more and then called it a day. I originally thought this stove would be good for toasting, but my experience shows me that it wasn't. At this point, I double checked my findings that this stove can be blown out pretty easy, and it could. I'm not sure how well this will stand up to wind, but that's not really what I bought it for anyways. Anyways, my breakfast sandwich was good other than the bread that I gassed out and discarded, and now that the cooking portion of this test is over, I put it into heater mode and started heating up my van. Again, this feels like a good time to remind everyone that Firemaple says that this is for outdoor use only. When in heater mode you can really feel the heat coming off of this thing. It raised the interior temperature of the van over 10 degrees Celsius in 10 minutes. That's faster than it can boil a liter of water, which kind of proves to me that this is better used as a heater than a stover. Or at least as a heater first stove. All in all, I actually liked this thing quite a bit. I think it compares to a Mr Heater Buddy Heater style heater, but in a way smaller package. My biggest concern is it not working in really cold conditions, but are you really actually camping in those conditions? I do feel like that does require more testing by me if possible. However I don't think this heater really can replace a diesel heater in really cold conditions, or live in vans that require constant heat. I think it's best used in medium cold conditions, to quickly warm up the van to get comfortable. Which is what I bought it for.
