Our selfsame mortal body clothed and consumed by the Spirit of God which God now gives us as a pledge for this hope. For this reason, it is called a SPIRITUAL body, life-giving Spirit. It is our old body transformed and now animated and characterized by the Spirit of God. Because the Spirit is life-giving, our once mortal bodies are now immortal, eternal, self-sustaining life. We will be enveloped in the Spirit and love of God forever.
We are given the Spirit as a token pledge (arrabon) and promise of this inheritance, Christ's engagement ring to his bride, the body of Christ and she will be become one with him on that Day. The two shall become one (Ephesians 5:25-32). The Spirit and these physical bodies become one, a new creation. The Spirit and the Bride say "Come!" Amen, Come Lord Jesus.
