There are so many mysteries in the world of colored gemstones. These are lesser known stones too many, but they shouldn't be.
Many of us have favorite gemstones. there are so many beautiful stones that we have to choose from. what about the gems that might be a favorite for many, but we don’t even know about because they are not always known or talked about. My favorite gemstones are on this list.

Not necessarily the best, but stones that don’t get the recognition they really deserve.
some of this is misconception, some ignorance, but ultimately these stones should be given more credit and attention than they do.

Zircon
-Confused with Cubic Zirconia
has a fantastic refractive index(higher than diamond)
makes for a very lively stone

Sapphires
-not an unknown stone, but very few know it’s variety
-star sapphires to are the many rainbow colors
combine all this with one of the most durable stones

Tourmaline
In Maine, where I am this is not as obscure of a gemstone
many don’t know about it, or at least don’t understand it’s vast variety.

more affordable even now than some of its other counterparts

Spinel
-a stone in the shadow of ruby and sapphire
-never gained prominence even after people recognized the difference from corundum
-comes in many colors
-often more affordable than sapphires and ruby
-almost as durable

Garnets
-not only limited to a small scope of what it truly represents
-the color most associated with garnet because it is one of the most common varieties is not even close to its most attractive
-comes in so many beautiful colors-purple, red, green, orange
-rarely treated
Don’t make too many assumptions. If you keep learning, your favorite might be something you haven’t even heard of yet!
