The Inchgreen cranes (pictured(, on the site of a former shipbuilding yard on the River Clyde, have not been operational for more than ten year, so a decision was made to remove the 50-year-old structures. Twenty homes from a nearby estate were evacuated as a precaution. Charges exploded at the base of the cranes (pictured left) which sent the once-mighty structures toppling over (pictured bottom and top right)
