Perugu Vada (Dahi Vada) is one of the most loved dishes, but the traditional version is deep fried in oil.
In this video, we are making a healthier version of Perugu Vada without deep frying, using very little oil while keeping the same delicious taste.
This recipe uses minapa pappu (urad dal) which is rich in protein and fiber, making it a great addition even to a balanced diet when consumed in moderation.
Instead of deep frying, the vadas are prepared using a paniyaram pan with minimal oil, which significantly reduces the calorie content while maintaining the crispy texture.
Key ingredients used in this recipe:
• Urad dal (with skin)
• Ginger
• Green chillies
• Cumin seeds
• Fresh curd
• Curry leaves
• Mustard seeds
• Asafoetida
For better taste and digestion, the vadas are soaked in buttermilk before adding to curd, which helps them absorb flavor beautifully.
