For years, Philip Morris International (PMI) has been working with some of the best and brightest scientific minds in the world to develop what we believe is the future of tobacco products.

It is the burning of tobacco that generates smoke and the vast majority of harmful and potentially harmful toxicants associated with smoking-related diseases. Smoke-free products, backed by science, offer a promising way to reduce the risk of harm for those who would otherwise continue to smoke.

This is why, for over a decade, we have been working on, and investing in, the research and development of smoke-free products that do not burn tobacco and are therefore less harmful than smoking cigarettes.

WHAT ARE SMOKE-FREE ALTERNATIVES?
Vapes, e-cigarettes and heat not burn tobacco products or HTPs are all examples of smoke-free alternatives. They are non-combustible products and produce either vapour or aerosol rather than smoke.

WHY IS PMI WORKING TOWARDS A SMOKE-FREE FUTURE?
It’s the right thing to do. There are an estimated one billion-plus smokers in the world, and they should be encouraged to quit. But for those adult smokers who would otherwise continue smoking, we want to provide them with smoke-free alternatives.
