Hello, this is Jack from tofluency.com with an English lesson that's going to have a look at the verb HOPE and, more specifically, when we're using this when we desire a certain thing to happen.

Now, there are different ways you can use hope but this is one on the ways and one of the most common ways too, and I used this word when I uploaded a video to Facebook, so I'm going to show you that video and then we'll discuss the language and show you some more
examples.

So, let's have a look at the video now...

Hello, this is Jack from To Fluency. The weather is amazing and I hope it stays that way. Also, I hope that you have a wonderful weekend, speak to you soon.

So, in the video I said "The weather is amazing and I hope it stays that way Also, I hope that you have a wonderful
weekend."

So, as I said at the start the video we use hope in this way when we desire for a certain thing to happen. Okay, so, I want the weather to stay nice I also want that you have a wonderful weekend.

And it's very common to use the word hope here.

Now, let's have a look at more examples: I hope you can make it next week. I hope you can make it next week. Now, have a look at the structure of this sentence: it's I hope plus you plus can, okay, now take a look at the next example I hope that you have good
weather. I hope that you have good weather.

Now, in this example, it's I hope plus that plus you have. So,
it's quite flexible here we can use that, we don't have to use it though. Okay, so in the second example we do use it the first example we don't.

Now, the next example is going to show you something a little bit different too: I hope to finish this soon. So, I'm talking about a new project I hope to finish this soon.

Now, in this example we have: I hope plus to finish, and this is because I'm talking about myself In the first two examples, I'm talking about other people: I hope you, I hope that you. In this last example, I'm talking about myself I hope to finish this soon.

So, your challenge for this video is to leave an example below using
hope. So, get creative and think about how you can use hope and in a way that's related to you and your life.
