In today's video, I react to Asmongold's video "We are so unbelievably f*cked.." in which he discusses a growing concern that has shocked millions of people:

How are so many young adults struggling with basic knowledge?

The video goes over reports showing declining literacy rates among college-aged students, as well as famous street interviews by Fleccas where seemingly simple questions leave people completely stumped.

Questions like:

"Name one continent.", "What year did America gain independence?", "Who fought in World War II?"

Questions that many people assume every adult should be able to answer.

And yet, time after time, the answers—or lack thereof—leave viewers speechless.

Now, to be fair, street interviews are designed to find embarrassing moments.

You can ask enough people and eventually find someone who gives a bizarre answer.

But the broader issue remains:

Why are so many young people struggling with reading, writing, and basic knowledge in the first place?

One criticism often directed at modern education systems is that schools increasingly focus on graduation rates, standardized metrics, and bureaucracy while neglecting fundamental skills, reading comprehension, critical thinking, basic history, basic geography.

The kinds of skills people use throughout their entire lives.

But schools aren't the only institutions that matter.

Parents play an enormous role as well: A child's relationship with books, their study habits, their curiosity, their discipline. Those things are often shaped long before college.

When parents stop taking an active role in education and schools lower standards to avoid uncomfortable outcomes, society ends up producing adults who struggle with tasks that previous generations considered basic.

And that's not something to celebrate. It's something to fix, because education isn't just about getting a diploma, It's about preparing people to navigate the world. to think critically, to distinguish truth from nonsense, and to function as capable adults.

In this video, I react to Asmongold's arguments, discuss the growing concerns surrounding literacy and education, and talk about why so many people believe our institutions are failing the next generation.

Because if we stop teaching people how to think, somebody else will gladly do the thinking for them.
