We spent a full day exploring Aurora Cave, New Zealand. The trip included:
A 45-minute bush walk to the cave entrance
Following an underground stream with a couple of 10-metre abseils
Wading through water passages
A 15-metre ladder climb to exit the stream passage
Glowworm sightings inside the cave
This is a wet and challenging adventure, with about 7–8 hours underground. The cave is permit-only, and our trip was approved by the Department of Conservation.
