TAHILIANI'S VISION CLOSES LAKME FASHION WEEK
The Lakme India fashion week drew to a close on Tuesday (22 SEPT 2009) with the grand finale by top fashion designer Tarun Tahiliani.
The veteran designer presented his spring/summer 2010 contemporary Indian collection in his usual flamboyant and glamorous style.
The venue of the show was transformed into a wonderland, with giant crystal chandeliers and walls swathed in hundreds of metres of luxurious fabric .
The show titled 'The Painterly Vision' was divided into three parts.
The first part presented drapes including saris, gowns, tunics and fringed kurtas in plum, violet and molten gold with delicate craftsmanship.
The second part was tribal in its theme, with shirts and finely tailored trousers embellished with traditional embroidery .
The final 'Padshanama' collection comprised of layered saris and lehengas (long skirts) for women and long coats and kurtas for men.
It also included a line of more classic layered silhouettes with Swarovski crystals.
Known as the 'master of drapes', Tahiliani is among the pioneers of the Indian fashion industry whose expertise lies in using traditional Indian crafts and interpret them to suit the contemporary international urban look.
Tahiliani Design Studio has presented its design collections including couture, diffusion, menswear and accessories at various International Fashion Weeks.
