Описание: The Economic Survey 2025–26 highlights India’s steady progress towards universal access in education and major improvements in health outcomes, reflecting inclusive and human-capital–driven growth.
India aims to achieve 100% Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) in school education by 2030 and 50% GER in higher education by 2035. The school education system currently serves around 25 crore students across 14.7 lakh schools, supported by over 1 crore teachers. While primary and upper-primary GERs exceed 90%, enrolment declines at the secondary and higher secondary levels, indicating areas needing policy focus.
In higher education, enrolment has reached 4.46 crore students, with GER rising from 27.1 in 2019–20 to 29.5 in 2022–23. National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 reforms such as the National Credit Framework, Academic Bank of Credit with APAAR IDs, and flexible entry–exit options are transforming access, mobility, and lifelong learning.
On the health front, India has achieved significant gains, outperforming global averages. Maternal mortality has declined by 86% since 1990, under-five mortality by 78%, and neonatal mortality by 70%. Infant Mortality Rate reduced from 40 in 2013 to 25 in 2023, highlighting improvements in public health systems and service delivery.
