London Paralyzed as Underground Strike Brings Chaos

Описание: MetroTV, London faced widespread disruption on Monday as a five-day strike by members of the Rail, Maritime and Transport (RMT) union saw the city's underground network to grind to a halt.

Footage shows closed train stations, long taxi queues, passengers waiting for buses, and boarding crowded services, with traffic jams throughout the city.

Ena, a commuter, said her journey had taken an hour and a half longer than usual. "It was alright from Peckham to Blackfriars, but after Blackfriars it was chockablock; the bus was crawling," she said, adding that bus drivers "take the brunt of whatever the London Underground decides to do" while the government 'fiddles with pay and pensions'.

"They say they put their money back into the infrastructure. Well, I’m still waiting to see it," the woman added.

Tourist Charlotte, who travelled from Halifax in West Yorkshire, said that she was affected for two full days after her trip to see the UK band Coldplay was rescheduled due to the strikes.
