Harvard PhD candidate Adam Boesky joined the Orange County Astronomers on Jan 9, 2026 to explain how gravitational waves, first detected in 2015, reveal the merger history of stars and black holes across the Universe. Through large-scale simulations, he presented quantitative estimates of merger rates and population demographics grounded in astrophysical data and models. Chris Butler delivered the “What’s Up?” sky overview.
