LOBAMBA: Nathie Hlophe, the Mtfongwaneni Member of Parliament (MP) blasted the Ministry of Home Affairs under Minister Princess Lindiwe, accusing the Ministry of corruption during National events tendering processes.
The MP, a former journalist who was speaking during the debate of the Home Affairs Ministry this week, called for transparency and accountability in the tendering system.
“Tenders must be awarded by merit not by favour, if corruption is escalating at the Home Affairs Ministry where budgets for National events are administered, is the safety of public funds guaranteed?”, said the Mntfongwaneni MP.
On another note, this Swaziland News previously exposed how Minister Princess Lindiwe was colluding with her husband Bishop Robert Kasaro to disregard the tendering processes and award multimillion tenders to companies allegedly linked to members of the powerful and politically connected Jesus Calls Worship Centre (JCWC) political cabal
Members of the JC syndicate include King’s Interpreter Sihle Dlamini, Foreign Minister Pholile Dlamini-Shakantu, Senate President Lindiwe Gwebu-Dlamini, Clerk to Parliament Benedict Xaba, Water Services Managing Director Jabulile Mashwama and other high profile individuals holding powerful positions in strategic positions within the Government.
Princess Lindiwe, the Minister of Home Affairs allegedly awarded an over R5million scaffolding tender to a company with linked to King’s Interpreter Sihle Dlamini.
Eswatini Scaffolding was awarded the tender to build ‘one day’ grandstands at Mankayane Sports Grounds for the recently held King’s Birthday Celebration in complete disregard of the Government procurement policies.
But the tender was part of the multimillion tenders allegedly grabbed by the Home Affairs Minister and subsequently awarded to companies with alleged links to her politically connected Jesus Calls Worship Centre(JCWC).
As a result, Finance Minister Neal Rijikernberg wrote a letter to the Home Affairs warning her against manipulating the procurement systems through a third party.
“It has been observed that, your Ministry conducts procurement through an agent or third party. This practice is contrary to the public procurement principles as stated in the Procurement Act 2011. This is tantamount to discrimination of suppliers. The restriction of procurement of activities for national events to one service provider is strictly prohibited,”reads the letter in part.
