Le HMS Barham, un cuirassé britannique de plus de trente mille tonnes, vit ses derniers instants. Mortellement touché, il gîte sur bâbord. L’inclinaison devient rapidement vertigineuse. Alors que sa cheminée touche la surface de l'eau, une explosion colossale éventre le navire.
En moins de quatre minutes trente, le cuirassé disparaît sous les vagues.

Ces images comptent parmi les plus impressionnantes jamais filmées lors d’un combat naval de la Seconde Guerre mondiale. Pourtant, leur histoire reste largement méconnue.

Ce documentaire retrace le destin du HMS Barham, de sa construction au début du XXe siècle jusqu’au récit détaillé de l’attaque du 25 novembre 1941, en s’appuyant sur les journaux de bord, les rapports d’enquête, les témoignages de survivants et les analyses d’historiens.
