Wigan is constantly changing, as documented in the Wigan Watch playlists.
But Wigan has had huge changes going on since before many of us lived here, from #coal #mining, steel industries and engineering all serviced by #railways hundreds if not thousands of miles of #tracks and #sidings. Even though almost all have disappeared it is easy to see where many of the tracks went, boundaries remain, weird shapes of woodland and some old structures remain. This video is part of a playlist where I try and follow some of the old lines and discover, using maps, what was there in the middle of the twentieth century. Its already #history but our towns #recenthistory.
