The New 2016 Honda HRV is better than the Kia Soul in Minnesota.
Hi, I’m Sean for Mills Honda and I’m here to show you the next BIG small thing from Honda – the new 2016 HRV.
The HRV is a 5-passenger subcompact crossover SUV. It offers sleek styling, clever interior design, advanced technology, and Honda’s solid track record of quality and reliability.
The HRV is taller than the Honda Fit but about a foot shorter than the CRV. It offers many of the new design features of the 2016 Fit, that make clever use of its interior space - such as the 60/40 folding magic seat in the 2nd row, that can fold either down or up,
so you can carry bulky items like a mountain bike or big stereo speaker, or create a roomy area for a large pet to ride in. And the front row passenger seat can recline almost all the way back to allow you to carry long pieces of cargo like skis, lumber from the hardware store, or even a kayak.
The HRV offers good head and leg room in the 2nd row. And with its seats in place to carry all 5 passengers, it offers over 23 cubic feet of storage space behind the rear liftgate. And with the 2nd row seats folded down for cargo mode, it offers over 55 cubic feet of space to transport your gear.
The HRV comes in three trim lines – the LX, EX, and EX-L. All trim lines are powered by a 1.8 liter, 141 hp engine that earns an EPA estimate of up to 35mpg on the highway.
It’s available in 2WD with either a 6 speed manual or CVT constantly variable automatic transmission; or in AWD with a CVT.
The HRV offers a lot of built-in value even on its entry level LX trim line, including 17” alloy wheels, Bluetooth hands-free streaming technology, remote entry, and multi-view rearview backup camera – all as standard equipment.
Moving up to the EX trim line gains you a power moonroof, push-button start, heated front seats, fog lights, and advanced technology like Honda LaneWatch – which displays blindspot information on a 7” touchscreen right in the center console.
The EX-L is the HRVs top trim line. It features leather seats, satellite-linked navigation, satellite radio, and more.
And if that’s not enough, our Mills MAX Accessories Team can help you personalize your new vehicle with custom graphics, wheels, exhaust kits, and other accessories to create your own unique, one-of-a-kind ride.
So how does the HRV stack up to its competition? It’s bigger than the Kia Soul, Nissan Juke, Jeep Renegade, Chevy Trax, and Mazda CX-3.
It offers AWD, which the Kia Soul currently doesn’t. Its interior is nicer than the Chevy Trax, and the Honda HRV allows you the option of pairing a manual transmission with its touchscreen and other advanced technologies – on option which is unique to its segment.
And unlike the Kia Soul – it’s not marketed on TV by creepy dancing hip-hop hamsters. Nothing against hip-hop. But remember - when those hamsters are out dancing around the vehicle, they’re not powering the little treadmill under the hood that makes the car go.
GRAPHIC: 100% Hamster Free!
The HRV is a great choice for someone with an active lifestyle who values practical, reliable, flexible transportation and strong fuel economy; but doesn’t want to miss out on modern styling and advanced technology. As Car & Driver.com stated: “Millennials, your car is finally ready.”
