This is So Fare Films

Описание: So Fare Films (SFF) is a production company and film education program established in Rome, Italy, in early 2020. Our mission is to leverage the power of visual storytelling to broaden perspectives and promote the causes of justice and personal dignity.

We also create a space for women and people of color in the film industry, in front of the camera and behind it…at all stages of their storytelling careers. Through our documentaries, educational materials, and our independent filmmakers' network, we serve as a change agent by giving voice to the voiceless.

So Fare Films was founded by award-winning documentary filmmaker and social scientist Jenn Lindsay, who, since 2010, had singlehandedly produced, filmed, and edited several short and feature films and one docuseries. As time passed, she realized that making a movie was only half of the journey of filmmaking—and that getting funded, finding distribution, and connecting with a growing audience are also crucial aspects of creating successful films. She also realized that filmmaking is best practiced as a team sport and got to work building a vibrant team of emerging media professionals to collaborate on all aspects of media production, from cinematography to composing music, to marketing, to fundraising. Together, they “learn by doing,” always growing their skills and vision on the way to making a serious contribution to a healthier, more fair media climate.

Through her position as a professor at John Cabot University, in January 2020, Jenn formed a group of assistant editors to collaborate on post-production and building a release strategy for Simulating Religious Violence. As a team, we “doubled down” on the development of So Fare Films as a full-fledged company—a foundation for all of our ongoing projects and for our growing team of early-career artists and seasoned professionals.

2.5 years later, we are going strong with an international team of 28, and we have a ton of cool projects—including 5 documentary feature films, a music video, and a docudrama series about religious and social diversity in Rome—at all stages of production.
