Temagami, Chiniguchi - Sturgeon Loop. Part 1
September of 2025.
Met up with Jesse and Steve at Sportsman’s Lodge. Shuttled to the put in at the MNR ramp on Matagamasi Lake. Headed up through Sylvester Lake stopping by Paradise Lagoon. On through Wolf and Dewdney Lakes to our first campsite.
Starting day two with a portage to Southeast Bay of Chiniguchi Lake. Paddling by the Elephant and visiting the Pictographs before pond hopping through Sawhorse, Adelaide and Button Lakes to very nice island camp on Dougherty Lake.
Day three takes us through Dougherty to Frederick Lake with some challenging winds and waves before getting on to Stouffer Lake with more Pictographs and crazy weather (tornado warning) before portaging over to the Sturgeon River.
