DIRECTOR'S STATEMENT
So this was originally written back in 2011-2012, shot towards the end of 2018, and it's finally being released now. My guess as to why it took so long to finish is that I wasn't creatively..."feeling it". I was a different (at least younger) man when I first wrote the script, with only very minimal changes/revisions made to it when I finally got around to actually shooting the thing in 2018. Luckily, I had the right group of people around me to make it, people who I'm lucky enough to call friends and colleagues. So here it is.
My original concept was not just to make a romantic-comedy (for some reason), but to also go back to a time when YouTube was still sort of the Wild West. Before it got so commercialized, sanitized, bastardized, etc. Back when you could actually find humble, honest pieces of work from people all over the world, most without a hint of “clout-chasing” in sight.
I feel like I was born in the wrong time. I've been making movies for 20 years now and the world is a lot different from what it used to be. My unwillingness to "play the game" and pretty much dick-ride up the ladder has left me feeling unfamiliar with this environment. Yet, despite being so out of touch, I kept telling myself to continue, because making movies for me was making art. And making art was the rock and the stability in my life.
But it ain't worth it no more. So after this jam and one more, I’m done.
Thank you to all those who’ve been with me, watched my work from the beginning, those who continued to watch my work, and those who I’ve worked with.
