On February 26, 2009, The Brookings Institution held a briefing on The Future of Middle-Skill Jobs. While Americas shortage of highly-skilled workers is well known, less attention has been focused on middle-skill jobs—those that require more then high school, but less then a four-year college degree. These jobs make up roughly half of all employment today, and demand for middle-skill workers is expected to continue despite the economic downturn.
The following is an excerpt from one of the panel presentations featuring Andy Van Kleunen, Executive Director of The Workforce Alliance.
