Forehand Topspin Made Simple Part 2 | eBaTT Tutorial #40
This video and part two of the forehand topspin (technique) aimed at the beginner, intermediate, and even advanced tutorials. This part is just as important as part one but the focus is on the upper part of the body with Tip 2 and 3.
I give some amazing (ya right) examples of how a forehand technique looks like including emulating some world-class players like Ma Long and Timo Boll.
Tip no.2
The technique, Timing point, and connection with the ball. The aim is to have a maximum force which includes; speed, spin, and power at the contact point. So how do we execute this?
First, knowing which eye is your dominant eye, once you know this then you know where to contact the ball. (Depending on your eyes you will prefer earlier or later timing point).
Second, we must understand where to connect with the ball, and this can be done by using the double hand technique I showed. This method is great and can be used for everyone because its specific to you. Meaning your arms and height is different to others and their forehand this technique will provide for your personal size.
Tip 3
Backswing - This is often a dilemma in coaching minds and can be controversial, in truth there's no true right or wrong, its what works for you. As mentioned in the video I personally advise you to drop the playing hand low for lower balls and keep high for balls with plenty of topspin or that bounce high up. But in simple terms do what feels right for you and yet try to be open-minded and try different arm locations to see which works best for you.
Follow through - this is an important part for any player, if your follow-through is inefficient you could cause personal injury, reduce efficiency, and decrease the quality of your forehand.
