"We were offering our prayer inside the mosque, then suddenly we heard the voice of a mortar blast and the crying of our children. We came out of the mosque and saw many children had died. We ran towards our houses and saw some children wounded and dead."

STORYLINE
Military operations and fierce fighting in a restive Pakistani tribal region has left an estimated 250 dead since Saturday.
Airstrikes targeting militant strongholds close to the Afghan border have been blamed for the death of dozens of civilians.
On Thursday a prominent tribal elder from the semi autonomous regions accused the Pakistani army of killing innocent people during an aerial raid on Tuesday, on the village of Epi in North Waziristan.
The victims included women and children.
Maulana Nek Zaman, a local lawmaker for Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, a hard-line religious party, accused the army of killing innocents in the airstrikes.
Ali Mohammed, a local resident, told AP Television on Wednesday: "Yesterday (9 October 2007) at three o'clock jet planes came and started bombing our village. They bombed the bazaar where children and old men were buying their groceries. In the end, 26 people died on the spot, most of them kids. They also bombed houses and so many women were affected."
In an interview on Thursday, Pakistani military spokesman Major General Waheed Arshad said the operation had been launched in response to militant activities that were targeted at security forces.
He added that civilian casualties were not the fault of the military.
"Obviously when somebody fires on the troops it becomes a legitimate target to be engaged. So when it is engaged the people who are living in those houses, in those villages, who are not militants, who are innocent people, also suffer casualties. The fault lies with the militants actually who use that place for targeting the security forces," he said.
