Medieval Wonders of Ireland – Rock of Cashel & Kells Priory

Описание: These Irish medieval spots will make you feel like you are walking back in time!

As we continued north in Ireland from the Ring of Kerry, we made two notable stops at some historic, medieval ruins.

The first of those being the Rock of Cashel, also known as St. Patrick's Rock, with ruins dating back to 11th and 12th century. This castle and surrounding medieval structures sit dramatically above the town of Cashel. What a sight it was to see this amazing structure from a distance and then further admired as we drove closer. Legend goes that Saint Patrick banished Satan from a cave and the rock landed here where the Rock of Cashel sits today. There is a small admission cost to go here at 8 euros a person.

Our next and final stop in Ireland was in the town of Kells. Kells Priory is 12th century Augustinian monastery and one of the largest medieval monuments in Ireland. We were shocked by how huge this site was. And best of all, admission is totally free! We couldn't believe such an amazing and historical stop was completely free and open to the public. Sat in the countryside surrounded by sheep at the height of golden hour, this truly felt magical. We are so grateful we stopped here.
