Independent University, Bangladesh's (IUB) School of Liberal Arts & Social Sciences (SLASS) and the esteemed Department of Global Studies & Governance (GSG) proudly orchestrated a grand book-launching event on October 08, 2023, commencing at 11:00 am. The event took place at the Multi-purpose Hall within the university premises.
The focal point of this event was the launch of the profoundly insightful book titled "Multifaceted Development: A Bangladesh Case Study," representing the eighth internationally published volume in the distinguished seven-year history of GSG. The eminent scholar, Professor Dr. Imtiaz A Hussain, founder of the Department of Global Studies & Governance (GSG) at IUB, spearheaded the book as the editor. It was published by the prestigious international publishing house, Palgrave Macmillan, UK.
Dr. Marufa Akter, Head of Global Studies & Governance at IUB, warmly welcomed the attendees, marking the commencement of this significant occasion. The ceremony witnessed enlightening remarks from Tanweer Hasan, PhD, Vice Chancellor of IUB, and Abdul Hai Sarker, Chair of IUB Board of Trustees, underscoring the importance of this remarkable scholarly contribution.
The event garnered further intellectual depth with the participation of distinguished discussants, including eminent personalities like Dr. K A S Murshid, Asif Mohammad Shahan, Professor Dr. Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir, and Professor Niaz Ahmed Khan. Their insightful evaluations about the book enriched the discourse, offering valuable perspectives to the audience. Professor Dr. Imtiaz A. Hussain, the book's editor, provided reflections on the book and addressed the comments made by the honourable discussants, fostering an engaging and informative discussion.
The book, "Multifaceted Development: A Bangladesh Case Study," stands out by presenting a unique perspective on Bangladesh's development, emphasizing the often overlooked facet of modernization.
