The EU SWITCH-Asia Policy Support Component, in partnership with the European Environmental Bureau (EEB), convened this webinar on “The EU’s Right to Repair Directive: Opportunities and Challenges for Business and Consumers in the Asia-Pacific Region.”
The session explored why the European Union is advancing the Right to Repair Directive and the broader transition logic behind it — moving from a linear “make–take–throw” model toward a circular economy focused on durability, value retention, and resource efficiency.
Speakers discussed:
• The key provisions of the EU Right to Repair Directive
• How the Directive may inspire similar legislation in the Asia-Pacific region
• Early implementation experiences and emerging lessons learned
• The challenges and opportunities for businesses adapting to new repair requirements
• How Right to Repair can unlock innovation, service-based business models, and stronger consumer rights
As countries across Asia-Pacific strengthen circular economy frameworks, the Right to Repair offers an important policy reference point for building competitive, transparent, and resource-efficient markets.
