While installing floating shelves for customer, I wanted to check out the strength of my system for building the brackets to support the shelf. So I set up a place on the wall in my shop where I could install some brackets and then put weight on them to see if the brackets failed first, or the sheetrock tore away. The best news about my experiment was that I was very happy with the design for my supporting brackets.
