Come onboard the first 747 ever built, City of Everett first flew on February 9th, 1969, she served as the test aircraft for the 747 programme pathing the way to the success of this iconic aircraft. She is on display at The Museum of Flight in Seattle, a must visit for any aviation fan out there.
The tour begins as we enter the aircraft through the L1 door, please excuse the background conversation and the incorrect info, to the left is the nose area and directly in front the unique spiral staircase to the hump (unfortunately this was closed on the day of the visit). As we continue down the fuselage we see the test computers and after that the ballast tanks that are used to simulate the weight of passengers onboard. Right at the back is the inflight refuelling operator station, demonstrating the 747's capability as an inflight refueller (The Iranian Air Force was the only customer of this capability). Throughout the cabin you can see the system of wires, cables used for the control surfaces, as well as electrical wires and ducting systems used in the air conditioning. Finally we exit the aircraft through the L4 door with a look at the wing and tail section.
