This video takes a look at using the Arduino's Serial.print command to send data to the computer, and the LCD library to print data to a 16x2 LCD display.
Somewhere around the 58 minute mark, I plug a wire into the wrong hole. Unfortunately it there is no spark, no smoke and no entertainment value. It just means I have to take a little break and double check my wiring to ensure that I have everything in the correct hole. If you skip ahead a few minutes you will find it all working, along with an explanation of what went wrong. (Mostly I was trying to talk and troubleshoot at the same time....)
