Bravery | Living the Life God Has Planned for You

Описание: Sometimes God asks us to do some pretty scary things, but Douglas has learned that God will always be there for us to help us be brave.

Douglas just beat his friend in a bike race for the very first time! He’d never been able to win before because his training wheels slowed him down, but now that they’re off, he can actually win! Douglas used to love his training wheels. They kept him from tipping over, and he never wanted to take them off; he was OK with losing every time if it meant he wouldn’t fall over. One day, Douglas’ dad asked him if he wanted to go bike riding. Douglas was excited, until his dad told him that they were going to take the training wheels off the bike. No! Douglas wanted to keep his training wheels, but his dad told him that it was time to be brave. Douglas started riding the bike with no training wheels with his dad standing beside him, holding onto the handlebars with him. This was even easier than riding with training wheels. Douglas could get used to this. But then his dad said, “OK, I’m letting go now”—and Douglas yelled, “No you’re not!” But he did. And Douglas was very scared, but then he started to get the hang of it. But then, he started heading right towards a giant tree, and he was sure he was a goner. He closed his eyes and heard a loud CRASH . . . and when he opened his eyes, he saw his bike at the base of the tree, but he was floating in the air. He thought he had superpowers—but it turned out that his dad just reached out and caught him before he hit the tree.

Sometimes, just like Douglas’ dad, God asks us to do scary things. There are so many examples in the Bible of people who were called by God to do something that scared them: David and Goliath, Noah and the Flood, Moses at the Red Sea, and many more! And because these people did what God asked them to, they were able to fulfill God’s will for them, and live the AWESOME life God called them too. So maybe you’re afraid to rake the next-door neighbor’s yard, because she seems mean. Or maybe you’re afraid to make friends with the new, weird kid at school. Or maybe you’re afraid to tell your friends about Jesus. But God wants us to be brave, and to live the awesome (sometimes scary) life He has called us to. So let’s be brave together!
