The most common question that I get asked on this channel is "Is it the same for the Driver?" or "Does it work for the Driver?".
There are many similarities between the DRIVER and IRON swings, however, there is a fundamental difference in how these two shots are struck - one from the ground, and one from a tee - so it stands to reason that there must be some different movements to account for.
The LEAD SHOULDER can be used as a focal point for this discussion. Specifically, how it moves in the early downswing will determine whether you're making a swing with an intent to hit DOWN and strike the ground after the ball, or whether you're making a swing with the intent of hitting more level (or even UP on the ball) and avoid the contact with the ground all together.
This video discusses two very distinct FEELS that you can apply as you start your downswing dependent on which club you're hitting. It also explains how you can film your swing from the front view and use the lead shoulder as the key checkpoint both at set-up, and then at impact, to ensure you're moving your body in a way that promotes the most effective way to hit BOTH of these clubs as well as possible.
