CNN projects Rehmet, a union president and Air Force veteran, will win the runoff election for the Fort Worth-area 9th District—a district former President Donald Trump won by 17 points just two years ago.
This victory marks the latest in a string of Democratic successes in recent special elections. Rehmet's opponent was Leigh Wambsganss, a GOP activist and executive at a conservative wireless company, whom Trump made a late push for with multiple social media posts in the final days of the race.
