Bend is changing fast — and this livestream was a BIG one.
We covered 4 major updates that a lot of locals have been asking about:
1) Timber Yards “recalibration” (aka… scaling back?)
The Timber Yards developer is asking the city to adjust the vision — and it raises a bigger question: if this is one of the most important pieces of land in Bend, should it become mostly apartments… or should we be thinking bigger?
Hear me out: Would you trade some housing density at Timber Yards if it meant Bend got a legit community anchor — like a 6,000-seat arena / indoor concert venue / performing arts center (and maybe even minor league hockey)?
2) Purcell + Bear Creek roundabout is OPEN
Finally. But now everyone’s asking the next question: what’s going on with that corner?
3) Bear Creek Crossing (what’s being built there?)
The stretch on the north side of Bear Creek between Dean Swift and Purcell is slated for a major multifamily project — Bear Creek Crossing — described as 176 units on ~7 acres.
Quick heads-up: even though the roundabout is “complete,” the City has flagged more work is expected in spring 2026, tied to private development.
4) Galveston update: demolition + what’s replacing the blue building
Boss Rambler’s old building is coming down for Galveston Supply — a new 12,000 sq ft, two-story commercial hub with 3 restaurant spaces downstairs + 8 office spaces upstairs and a terrace/patio vibe. This whole corridor is about to look very different, especially with the Galveston safety project expected to start in spring 2026.
Bonus: We also touched on the downtown library closing and the Bend Central Library opening in May.
