In 1989, the Ball State University men's basketball team enjoyed a Cinderella season, posting an overall record of 29-3. Under head coach Rick Majerus, the 1988-1989 Cardinals captured the conference title and won their first ever NCAA tournament game with a victory over Pittsburgh.
