#Mel #Gibson’s name has come to be associated with #Hollywood royalty. He was born on January 3, 1956, in Peekskill, New York, and grew up in Australia. His father, Hutton Gibson, was railroad worker and a World War 2 veteran, while his mother, Anne Reilly Gibson, was a housewife. Mel was the sixth born of the eleven children born to his parents and spent much of his childhood on the move between the United States and Australia. It seems that the great future of Mel was genetically determined, because his paternal grandmother was an opera star from Australia and his grandfather was a millionaire From a young age, Mel had shown a great interest in the arts and took up acting while in high school.

However, when he moved to Australia with his family that’s when he began taking acting more seriously when he was cast in a school production of the play “#Romeo and Juliet.” This experience inspired Mel that he even began taking part in productions for local theatres. His sister saw how much he liked acting and pranking people so she took it upon herself to make an application for him at the National Institute of Dramatic Art in Sydney. Mel wasn’t so much thrilled since on the previous day before the audition he got drunk and roughed up hence didn’t look so good when he appeared for the audition. To his surprise the auditioners liked the look and admitted him immediately. They saw potential in him, despite his lack of enthusiasm and the bad first impression he had made.
