In this video, I visited the sacred Vedagiriswarar Temple, one of the most powerful and ancient Shiva temples in Tamil Nadu. Located in Tirukalukundram, near Chengalpattu, this temple is also known as “Pakshi Theertham.”
This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, worshipped here as Vedagirishwarar. The temple is beautifully situated on top of a hill, and devotees need to climb around 500+ steps to reach the sanctum. The climb itself is a spiritual experience, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding town and greenery.
🔱 Spiritual Significance:
It is believed that the four Vedas worshipped Lord Shiva here, which is why the hill is called “Vedagiri.” The temple has a history dating back over 1,000 years and showcases stunning Dravidian architecture.

Tirukalukundram is famous for the legend of sacred eagles that used to visit the hill daily. Due to this divine connection, the place is also called “Pakshi Theertham” (Holy place of birds).
