The United States has carried out another lethal strike on an alleged drug trafficking vessel in the eastern Pacific, marking the second such attack since the dramatic capture of Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro. US Southern Command said the February 5 operation killed two alleged narco-terrorists and was part of Operation Southern Spear, a campaign under the Trump administration aimed at disrupting narcotics routes. The strikes, however, are drawing growing scrutiny in Congress and legal challenges from families of victims, as US officials admit they do not always know the identities of those on board the targeted boats.
