A Saturday dive on the east side of Port Phillip Bay in very windy conditions — winds were blowing from the east-south-east at ~35–45 km/h (fresh to strong breeze) with gusts higher around the time of our dive, creating choppy water on the surface.
Despite the conditions, underwater visibility was generally very good, with some areas around 8 m+ visibility and others slightly less — certainly great for diving and spotting fish.
One of the highlights of the dive was a swarm of hundreds of small Lion`s mane jellyfish with long transparent tentacles floating everywhere. Their stings were mostly mild and bearable, but trust me, it’s another story when a tentacle gets stuck on your lip…
We got very lucky with the catch — managed to spear some fresh fish for lunch, which made the windy conditions totally worth it.
Happy Diving!
