UP 4014 Through the Piney Woods- Marshall, TX to Prescott, AR (11/12/2019)

It was a cold, windy, and packed day on Bolivar St. in Marshall, TX. Railfans braved the 25-degree weather to get 4014 backing out of the yard. The previous night's thunderstorm left some "perfect" cold but humid weather to see the steam.

Some people (us) left my phone with about half of the footage on the bridge. That's right, the Big Boy in Texas series was inches away from being left on a bridge.

Chasing 4014 north, we were trying to get to 30 total shots of it throughout Texas and Arkansas, and we ended up with 31. From overhead in Kildare, deep in the woods of Bivins, and the urban siding Queen City, 4014 put on an amazing show. We stood on Route 67 to get the shot at the Red River, and every truck that crossed the 67 bridge shook it. Fortunately, nothing was left on this bridge, or it would've ended up in the drink.

Prescott held a fireworks show to celebrate 4014, but it was just a photo shoot, not a July 4th style mega-show, but I still filmed it in 17-degree weather on a work night 140 miles from home.

4014 will take this same route on its way back from New Orleans. Expect to see "Big Boy in Texas- Season 2" on the channel starting in late September. The finale of that one won't be a year late. Until then, good luck chasin' 4014!
