Drogheda is located on (and near the mouth of) the River Boyne, in County Louth and borders County Meath. As one of the largest towns in the north-east, it is a hub for bus services: long-distance, regional and local.

This video was recorded during the February bank holiday while Irish Rail were doing engineering work on the railway between Drogheda and Dublin. As a result, a number of rail replacement bus services were running between the two places, with Bernard Kavanagh providing the vehicles. Some of these appear in this video and are listed below.

Apart from that, there have been a few changes since the last visit in May 2025 [   • Drogheda Buses | May 2025  ]. Drogheda, like Dundalk, has started to receive some of Mercedes Citaros (MC Class) from Cork. A Dundalk one features here on route 168, while a Drogheda one appears on the town route D5. The latter has received Transport for Ireland (TFI) livery, and some of the VWD 400s have also started receiving this livery, such as VWD 423 in this video. This video was recorded before Bus Eireann received new SE Class coaches for its Expressway services. Some of these have been allocated to the 100X, but in this video the older LE and LC Classes feature, and may be the last time these buses appear on the route.

These changes aside, the usual mix of Bus Eireann buses appear on the services to and from Drogheda. The LC, LF, VB, VWL and VWD Classes dominate, with an LC and a VB making rare appearances on the local Laytown routes.

In terms of the private operators, Matthews (now owned by First Bus) makes a number of appearances in this video through its route 901. One of the vehicles featured is a new Volvo 9700DD. Halpenny Travel still operate the two Local Link routes, with the 163 getting a new accessible minibus.
