Hear my just cause, O Lord; attend my cry;
Give ear to prayer where truthful lips apply.
From your own presence let my justice flow;
Let righteous eyes the truth I live now know.

You’ve tried my heart, by night you came to see;
You tested me; no fault you found in me.
I set my will that nothing false be said;
My mouth has walked where holiness has led.

By words you spoke, against the works of man,
I’ve shunned the paths where violent footsteps ran.
My steps held fast within the paths you laid;
My feet stood firm, no slipping, unafraid.

I call to you, for you will surely hear;
Incline your ear, O God, my words draw near.
Show wondrous love, O Savior, strong and kind,
Who guards all those who refuge seek and find.

Keep me the apple of your watchful eye;
Hide me beneath your wings where comforts lie.
From wicked foes who deal me violent wrong,
From deadly men who press and hunt me long.

Their hearts are sealed; no pity stirs within;
Their mouths speak pride, their arrogance is sin.
They track our steps, surround us where we're found,
Their gaze intent to cast us to the ground.

Like lions crouched, eager their prey to tear,
Young hunters hid in watchful stare.
Arise, O Lord! Confront him; make him yield;
By your own sword let my deliverance be sealed.

From worldly men, O Lord, by your strong hand,
Whose only share is found in this short span
You fill their lives with treasure, children, gain;
They leave their wealth, but nothing more remains.

As for me, I shall behold your face in righteousness;
when I awake, I shall be satisfied with your likeness.
