Very strange behavior of a simple electric circuit. High voltage with nearly zero current creates an ear-deafening spark by shorting a capacitor. During each positive 50Hz cycle the capacitor is charged relatively slowly up to 500 volts. At each negative 50Hz cycle the spark gap discharges the capacitor abruptly. Could this imply that an abruptly discharged capacitor can provide more energy than it was initially charge with? If so, do we need additional electrons from ground for that?
